Glen Loutzenhiser Memorial Scholarship
History
Glen Loutzenhiser graduated from Central Collegiate Institute in 1987. In 1991, he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (with Great Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan, going on to become a Chartered Accountant. After several years in the accounting profession, Glen decided to pursue a law career, graduating with his Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) in 1999 from the University of Toronto.
Glen then decided to pursue academia, enrolling in a Master of Laws at the University of Cambridge (graduating first class) before attaining his first teaching post in Tax Law at Oxford University in 2004. Glen went on to complete his Doctorate at Oxford and to be recognized as Professor of Tax Law in 2021 at Oxford.
While achieving excellence professionally, Glen excelled even more in his love and caring for his family and his friends. A man of principle, Glen worked hard, cared deeply and made things better for all who knew him.
Criteria
- Be graduating from Central in the current school year
- Must be admitted to a recognized post-secondary institution in the faculty of commerce/business with intention to pursue a career in tax, law or academia

Required Documentation
- Proof of acceptance into post-secondary programming
- A 500-word (max.) essay – How do you see yourself contributing to the field of commerce and/or law through your passion and commitment to being a lifelong learner in your chosen field
- 3 letters of recommendation – 1 from a teacher at Central, 1 from a person in the community with close knowledge of the applicant, 1 from a coach, teacher or person who has had a significant influence on the applicant’s development
