The Riverview Intramurals continued in the months of January and February with the Noon Hour Basketball League. Four teams competed in the regular season: 2.5 Coming, the Dunksmiths, the Nonames, and the Balla’s. Playoffs were held in late February to determine the League Champion. In the end, 2.5 Coming defeated the Nonames 2-1 in the best-of three-final. Congratulations to 2.5 Coming and all the teams for showing great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The Riverview Indoor Soccer League is the next intramural sport and it will run from March through April. Four teams have already begun regular season play; United, the Warriors, 2.51 Coming, and the Blazer).

Saskatchewan River Basin Envirothon Provincial Student Challenge |
|

Riverview is pleased to present our Envirothon Challenge team who will be competing against students from across the province on topics of environment concern. The 5 member team is made up of students enrolled in Riverview’s Wildlife Management program. The Envrothon competition is centered around four universal testing categories (soils/landuse, aquatics, forestry, and wildlife) which coincide with the Wildlife Management curriculum. The theme for this year’s competition is “protection of groundwater through urban, agricultural and environmental planning". The team is now training for the competition held from May 3o-June 1 in Eston, Saskatchewan. The team is thankful to our sponsors, the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and the Moose Jaw River Watershed Stewards for their support.
For more information, check out the Saskatchewan River Basin Envirothon Provincial Student Challenge website.

ANOTHER Opportunity To Learn!
In an effort to allow more students to complete and pass their courses at Riverview Collegiate, the school is pioneering a program called the “Credit Recovery Program.” Students who would normally fail a class due to incomplete projects, inadequately completed projects and/ or missing assignments are now given the opportunity to complete those assignments and projects in a timely and sufficient fashion and recover their credit. The program is targeted at students with failing grades ranging from at least 40% to below 50% who are willing to put the necessary work into completing the “original” course rather than having to take the entire course again. |
