Carol Smith Memorial Scholarship
Carol Smith taught in Saskatchewan for over thirty years. She worked primarily with students who faced cognitive and physical challenges. Carol was very active in the Council for Exceptional Children and served several terms on the executive. Because Carol spent her career advocating for children with special needs, in 2011, friends and family of Carol Smith established a scholarship to continue her legacy.
- Must be a graduate during the current school year.
- Must be either a student which faces a physical or cognitive disability and is continuing post-secondary studies at a recognized educational institution or a student that is pursuing a post-secondary program directed toward working with those with either a physical or cognitive challenges (Programs include, but are not limited to, Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology).
There are no special considerations for this scholarship
- Must provide proof of acceptance into a recognized post-secondary institution.
- If applying because of a physical or cognitive challenge, applicants must submit a letter or statement attesting to the challenge. Or the student support teacher must email the scholarship coordinator explaining the nature of the challenge.
