June 16th saw an excited group of students, staff, families, and dignitaries in Gravelbourg as Prairie South Schools turned the sod in preparation for a combined 10 million dollar addition and renovation to Gravelbourg High School. Students gathered to watch Education Minister Don Morgan, Board Chair Shawn Davidson, students Tristan Boire and Sarah Hoag, Gravelbourg Mayor Edward Lagasse, Principal Jody Lehmann, and Director of Education Tony Baldwin take ceremonial divots out of the grass to mark the official beginning of construction.
The school renovation and addition, scheduled for completion in September, 2016, will see new space built between the existing high school and daycare buildings and an extensive renovation to the existing high school. When construction is finished, Gravelbourg will have a state-of-the-art PreK-12 dual track facility that will serve children in Gravelbourg and area for many years to come.
Construction partners on the project are the Government of Saskatchewan, Prairie South Schools, P3 Architecture, Quorex Construction, and MHPM Project Management.
