Prairie South values unity of purpose through a culture that recognizes diversity and equality. Our division is home to a number of students who have moved from other areas of the world, and who need support in learning and using English. To meet that need, we provide English as an Additional Language (EAL) programming in several of our schools.

Formerly called English as a Second Language (ESL), the name change acknowledges that English may often be the third, or even fourth language, that our students are learning. EAL develops the English language skills of students by focusing on listening, speaking, reading and writing through a variety of classroom instruction and assignments.
