Once again this year our school's Learning Improvement Plan's (LIP) academic goal will focus on reading and improving each student's reading ability. Our grades 1-8 will once again make use of the Fountas & Pinnell (F & P) Reading Assessment tool in benchmarking reading levels for students. This data is the starting point also for our Teacher's Leaning Improvement Teams (LITs) as they work together to support our reading LIP goal. Grades 1-2-3/4 staff are using the F & P data to guide work in the area of vocabulary and reading comprehension improvement, while the grades 4/5- 7/8 staff's LIT is introducing another reading assessment tool called Whole Class Reading Assessment (WCRA). This will support the F & P data collected already last year on each student. From this areas that are identified as weaknesses in reading will be the focus of their LIT as they strive to incorporate new instructional strategies with the class and students!! Here is a few photos of WG students in guided reading groups.

You’re being rewarded for a---Random Act of Kindness for being a good citizen of William Grayson School!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
After the reading at an assembly of the book “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” WG School staff chose to reward more good deeds by students for other students and/or staff. So we continue with RAK (Random Act of Kindness) rewards being given out at assemblies and also at the spur of the moments. THANKS to the Frozen Noodle Smoothies Bar in the Hammond Block Building downtown (on Fairford St. East across the street from City Hall) for partnering with us in giving out smoothies as a reward for RAK for the last few School years....
