You’re being rewarded for a---Random Act of Kindness for being a good citizen of William Grayson School!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
At a recent assembly students had the book “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” read to them. In an effort to reward more good deeds by students for other students and/or staff we have arranged for a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) reward to be given out at assemblies. THANKS to the Frozen Noodle Smoothies Bar in the Moose Jaw Town & Country Mall for partnering with us in giving out smoothies as a reward for RAK....

Academic Focus of our Learning Improvement Plan-- READ!! |
Thursday, 03 May 2012 17:22 |
Our goals were that by June 2012 ALL students in grades 1-8 will read at developmentally appropriate levels as determined by Fountas & Pinnell reading assessments. Recently round 2 of testing for grades 1-4 indicated that 100% of our grade 1`s, 93 % of our grade 2`s, 100% of our grade 3`s, and 50 % of our grade 4`s had improved their reading levels from round 1 testing in the fall. Well done!! At a recent assembly this data was shared with all and some students knocking their reading levels out of the park (such as two grade 4`s reading at 3 levels above year end grade 4 levels) received special reading awards!! Grades 5-8`s round 2 of testing will occur in early June while grades 1-4 will do their 3rd round of testing at that time. Way to go William Grayson Student readers!! Read, read, read....

Our students continue to be In-Motion! We start each day with “Live” Jammin’ Minutes led by our Leadership/Wolves Words Team members. Throughout the day students and teachers are also encouraged to take activity breaks to perform some moderate to vigorous physical activities before getting back to their studies. Our data has went to over 1/2 our days a month seeing our classrooms average between 6-10 minutes of activty!! Also at a recent assembly we had an all-school In-Motion dance off through the use of the Party Dance websites shown on the Gym’s big screen!! Awesome, well done William Grayson Staff & Students as we work towards our LIP support goal of promoting a positive school culture through cooperation and In-Motion activities...

Thursday, 26 April 2012 16:42 |
Please be reminded of next year's school year calendar (http://www.prairiesouth.ca/division/division-calendar.html ) and that the Teacher's PD days will be done in a format in which all PSSD Schools will have 15 early dissmissal days (2:30 PM) beginning in October. These will occur approximately every 2nd week with the exception of long weekends or holiday periods such as Christmas and Easter. In conjunction with this we have moved our Kindergarten to the AM for next year, and Pre-K to the PM. |
