School Hours For Next Year |
|
You may have heard news about all Saskatchewan schools increasing the number of instructional time for students in the province. Prairie South has responded by adding 10 minutes to every school day to ensure that every child is receiving the appropriate amount of instructional time.
Westmount School is also changing hours to reflect the large number of students that stay for lunch. Because we have over 150 students not having to travel home for lunch, we have found that an hour is far too long for these students. Also, adding 10 minutes to every day would mean that we need to keep children in school much later than we currently do or have them arrive much earlier. We feel the best option is to shorten the lunch hour. The lunch hour will now be 45 minutes in length for the 2013-2014 school year.
Westmount School Instructional Hours 2013-2014
Morning classes begin at 8:55 and conclude at 11:45
Afternoon classes begin at 12:30 and conclude at 3:20
This will also add conveniece for the families that have children in kindergarten and pre-kindergarten as the noon dismissal times will now be the same. |

Exciting News For Next Year! |
|
The 2013/2014 school year will bring some exciting changes to Westmount School!
-The YMCA will be opening a daycare in our school. Please contact Jeff Fox at the Moose Jaw YMCA for more information.
- Our grade 7/8 students will be remaining at Westmount for the full day. Our students will still have the opportunity to participate in the hockey program at RVCI. They will also still get to attend the Practical and Applied Arts program at RVCI. This will see students attending RVCI one afternoon a week in the second half of the school year.
- Westmount will be providing supervision of students starting at 7:30am and continuing until 430pm. We are hoping that this will help working parents to more easily coordinate their busy lives.
- If you have any questions about these or any other offerings at Westmount, please contact Mr. D. Orescanin - the school principal.
