1. Drum Club today at 12:30pm.

3. The Indoor Soccer League will continue on Monday as most players are gone to Hoopla. Monday's game will be the Warriors vs. United.

4. The next training session for the Kids Help Phone Student Ambassadors will be on March 21st. Any students interested should talk to Mrs. Armstrong.

5. The next Book Club Meeting will be on April 22nd. All books will be in the Library to check out next week.

6. A "Women in technology Exploratory Course" is being offered at SIAST Palliser Campus. This course is designed as an orientation of various technology related fields and could help provide assistance with entrance into technology programs and would be useful towards applying for certain scholarships. Riverview has three spots reserved and one is already gone. If you are interested--see Mr. Morrison in Room 212. First come first served: however, priority will be given to Grade 12 students until Wednesday.

Let's support our boys in their bid for a Provincial Championship.

The next league game will be Monday, March 15th between the United and 2.51 Coming. In yesterday's action the Warriors and Blazers tied 2-2 and nothing was decided after extra time..

The Noon Hour Basketball League Finals between 2.5 Coming and the Nonames continue today at 12:10pm in the gym. 2.5 Coming lead the best or three final 1-0 after defeating the Nonames yesterday 69-42. Brody Wasmann led 2.5 Coming with 28 points while Adam Noseworthy had 26 points for the Nonames. Also, if you are interested in participating in the Noon Hour Indoor Soccer League please see Mr. Irving this week to sign up as a team or individual. Indoor Soccer will begin Thursday, Feb. 25th.

The first game of the playoffs is today between 2.5 Coming and the Dunksmiths. All first round playoff series are best of three and teams can only use players from their official rosters for playoffs.

In Thursday's action, the Balla's kicked off their season with a thrilling 40-38 win over the Dunksmiths. Sara Klippenstein put the Balla's ahead with the game winning shot with only two seconds left. A reminder to all students watching the games that there is no food or drinks allowed in the gym.

5. Finally, this Sunday (Jan. 10th) the Riverview Senior Rock Band and Empire Drum Club will be performing at the Olympic Torch Ceremonies at the Armouries. The Senior Rock Band plays at 9:30am and the Empire Drum Club performs at 11:15am. Today four students from Riverview will be participating in the School City Wide 2010 Vancouver Olympic Torch Relay. These students will be passing Riverview with the Relay Entourage sometime in the morning. All Riverview staff and students will line Coteau Street as they pass. We will be given a 20min warning when they are approaching. At that time I will inform everyone over the intercom that it is time to get your jackets and make your way to the front of the school to cheer them on. Please be sure to wear warm clothes and footwear when you go outside. Classes will resume after the entourage has passed.

On Thursday, Dec. 10th, four students from Riverview will be participating in the School City Wide 2010 Vancouver Olympic Torch Relay. These students will be passing Riverview with the Relay Entourage sometime in the morning. All Riverview staff and students will line Coteau Street as they pass. We will be given a 20min warning when they are approaching. At that time I will inform everyone over the intercom that it is time to get your jackets and make your way to the front of the school to cheer them on. Please be sure to bring warm clothes and footwear for that day. Classes will resume after the entourage has passed.

In playoff action last Thursday in the Noon Hour Floor Hockey League the Underdawgz defeated the Legends 7-2 to win their semi-final series 2-0. Jamie Copeman led the Dawgz with a hat trick. In the gym today at 12:15pm is the second game in the best-of-three semi-final series between the Warriors and Second Coming. The Warriors lead that series 1-0.
Congratulations to the Girls Curling Team for their win over Peacock last Thursday. They owned AEP with an 8-0 triumph. Way to go girls! Curling Team practice today at 3:45pm at Hillcrest.
The next Grad meeting will be tonight at 7:00pm in the Riverview Library.

In playoff action yesterday in the Noon Hour Floor Hockey League the Warriors upset the Second Coming 7 to 3 to take a one game lead in that best of three. Today at 12:15pm in the gym the Legends take on the Underdawgz in game 2 of their best of three. The Underdawgz lead the series 1-0.

Playoffs started yesterday in the Noon Hour Floor Hockey League as the Underdawgz defeated the Legends. Quintin Bastien led the Underdawgz with five goals and Chappen Crier recorded the first shutout in the league this year. Today's playoff action is the first game of the Second Coming and Warriors series at 12:15pm in the gym.
Girls Basketball game tonight at Central at 8:00pm. There will be practice on Thursday at Cornerstone at 5:00pm.

The regular season of the Noon Hour Floor Hockey League concluded yesterday with the Underdawgz edging out the Warriors 6 to 5. James Copeman led the Underdawgz with a four goal outing. The first round of playoffs start today at 12:15pm in the gym with the Legends playing the Underdawgz. On Wednesday, the Second Coming will play the Warriors in the other semi-final series. Semi-finals are best of three. Make sure to check the gym bulletin board for final standings and goal leaders.

Congratulations to Jennifer Endicott, Sara Styles, Raven Lal, and Kristina Riley who entered the Smartrisk Pumpkin Drop at Vanier on October 30th. They all won Sportchek Gift Certificates for their pumpkin "Wilson" who was deemed the most colorful pumpkin at the competition.
Students at RVCI can now recieve the H1N1 vaccination on Wednesday, November 18th in the afternoon. Consent forms are available at the office and must be signed by a parent.

Today is the Terry Fox Run in support of Cancer Research. The run will take place at the track before lunch (end of period 3). The staff and students will be called down to the track by announcement. Riverview will be having a Terry Fox Run on Wed., September 23rd in support of Cancer Research. The run will take place at the track before lunch (end of period 3). All staff and students will participate and you can run or walk. Bring comfortable shoes for that day. Mr. Irving will be distributing pledge forms this week to classrooms. We are asking every student to donate a loonie in support of this cause. You can bring your donation to the track on the day of the run or to Mr. Irving before the run date.

Due to overwhelming requests, Wellness Club members can meet on the stage after school today for Kickboxing.
The next Cross Country Running practice will be and today at lunch. Meet in the front foyer at 12:10pm.
There will be a pop, chips, and candy sale today at the 10 minute break. Pop ($1.00), chips ($0.50), and bags of candy ($1.00).
There will be a Writers Group starting on October 2nd (Thursday) at Riverview in room 312 at 7:00pm. All students and community members are welcome. If you love to write or are looking to improve your writing please attend.

The Knights of Columbus is holding a Soccer Challenge (15 penalty shots at prepared nets/targets) on Sunday Sept. 20th at Smith Field in Moose Jaw. The competition is open to 10-14 year olds and is free. Age group champions move on to Provincials. See Mr. Irving for entry forms and more info.

The 2010 Vancouver Olympic Torch is coming through Moose Jaw on January 10th. The first event leading up to this is a BBQ in Wakamow valley on Thursday, Sept. 10th at 6:00pm. Meet local Olympians and Elite athletes and get a up close look at the Olympic Torch.
