This past week the Palliser Heights Badminton Team competed in the Moose Jaw Elementary City Championships held at Peacock Collegiate. This tournament marked the end of a wonderful season by the team that represented the school well throughout league play. We would like to thank all of the coaches and athletes for their efforts this year, it was great to see such athleticism, sportsmanship and positive attitudes. We would like to congratulate our City Champions, Mekonen Cridland for finishing first in boys singles and Griffin Barrett and Connor Doka-Moore for finishing first in boys doubles, very well played!!

Recently the students at Palliser Heights School were fortunate to have two authors visit the school library for presentations.
Students from grades 1-5 were visited by Valerie Sherrard, an award winning Canadian writer of books for children and young adults. Living in New Brunswick, but being born in Moose Jaw, Valerie was excited to be back in Saskatchewan to see our city and students. Some of her published books include There's a GOLDFISH in my Shoe!, There's a COW under my Bed! and The Glory Wind.
Palliser Heights students from grade 6-8 were joined by students from Prince Arthur to enjoy a presentation by Kenneth Oppel. Kenneth Oppel is also a multiple award-winning Canadian author that has many titles that engage young readers. His award winning books include the Silverwing series, Airborn and Half-Brother.
We thank both of the authors for joining us to share their books, stories and passion for writing!

The Palliser Heights School Community Council will be holding elections on Tuesday, April 23rd at 7:00 pm in the linbrary. We encourage all parents that are interested in getting involved in the school at any level to come out and see what our SCC has been working on over the past year. There will be many opportuntities for parent involvement as we progress into the 2013-2014 school year. Whether it's helping with one of the fundraisers or filling a role on the council, all forms of parent participation are welcome! |
