Withdrawal of Voluntary Services

We have been advised that all teachers have been directed to participate in the withdrawal of voluntary services starting Monday, May 30, 2011 until further notice.

A withdrawal of voluntary service means that teachers are committed to providing their usual professional service within the school hours of each school. Schools will be open and teachers will continue to teach for the instructional day, however:

- Teachers will not be participating in events scheduled outside of the school day
- Teachers will not be supporting events outside of school hours
- Events within the school day will continue to occur with the exception extracurricular activities during the noon hour

Prairie South continues to be committed to the safety and well-being of our students. Our principals will continue to exercise the supervision of students.

School buses will not be affected by this action and will continue to run. If there is a privately operated daycare or preschool within your school it will remain open.

The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation has advised us that they will give 48 hours notice should any further action take place. In the event of further action, Prairie South will notify you as soon as possible. We will also circulate information to the media and here on our website.

On Monday, May 16th, Tia had her first hair cut.  Tia had decided that if she could raise $500.00 for cancer research, she would cut off her hair to make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments.  With the help of our community, Tia raised over $600.00 for cancer research.  Great job Tia!
