Provenance of  the  Harris Jones
Ducks in a Prairie Sunset Painting

By Barbara K Latham (née Wigmore) of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan (July 27th 1943-   ) and of Victoria BC

Judge Harold Pope (1899-1983) and Muriel Pope of Moose Jaw (http://sain.scaa.sk.ca/collections/index.php/harold-pope-fonds;rad) gave this painting to Dennis and I on December 1966 . It is a standard canvas size, probably about 18” x 24”.  It was painted by Harris ‘Casey’ Jones of Mortlach whose major contribution to Saskatchewan was his unique and extensive arrowhead collection.  Casey never gave the painting a name  . . . .The Judge was a friend of Casey’s  . . .

. . June 2011, Den and I visited Buffalo Lake where we learned that Jocelyn’s new teaching job was in Mortlach; it was easy to see that the fitting place for the duck painting to be was with her. She was happy about her job and content  to be going to a small town which she described as “happening” and delighted to take the painting there ….
