Students from John Chisholm Alternate School are experiencing a unique way to learn about generosity. They are volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Moose Jaw to help build a house for a deserving family. The staff at John Chisholm have been looking for ways to help students gain a sense of belonging in their community and this project offers an excellent opportunity for this.

Lunch in Chisholm's Teepee |

Students and staff enjoyed a beautiful late September noonhour utilizing the school's teepee. Students assisted in all aspects of raising the teepee and helped to build a fire inside which many used to cook their lunch. Before lunch was ready several crawled inside to do their schoolwork and enjoyed the relative peace to help them focus on the tasks at hand.
As the students worked on erecting the structure they were reminded of the sacred significance of the poles and how the teepee is supposed to be honoured.

Students shared a gift of an oak tree from the Saskatchewan Nursuery Landscape Association, the Canadian Nursery Landscape Associations, and a local landscaping firm, to celebrate National Tree Day, September 21.
