February 26th, GHS students had the opportunity to attend a presentation sponsored by MADD (Mothers Against Drinking and Driving). The presentation "Long Weekend" brought drug and alcohol impaired driving awareness and risk reduction messaging to the students. It reminded them, as well as all adults present, to take a closer look at their values and perceptions as well as the consequences of bad decisions and risky behaviours.

February 1st - 6th, many French Immersion students in grades 10, 11 and 12, participated in a cultural and action-packed experience in Québec City and Montréal. They visited many impressive historical sites and went on various tours. They enjoyed the "Carnaval à Québec" and "Cabane à sucre" experiences. They appreciated seeing the Montmorenccy Falls, the Ice Hotel, the "underground city" of Montreal and numerous other great attractions and sites.

The Truth About Drugs Sessions |
|
Wednesday, 20 February 2013 18:09 |
|
Grade-alike group sessions, focused on The Truth About Drugs, continue monthly for grades 8-10 and every other month with grades 11-12. The sessions follow very closely a well-developed program called The Truth About Drugs. During the sessions, students view various videos, reflect and discuss. We do hope that the knowledge shared and gained will help our students to make better choices. We do hope that the powerful video clips and advertisements make them reflect and assist them in their decision making in the future. We invite parents to visit the following site to see one of the many videos viewed by students. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m-iepxgceo
