The grade six class recently spent the day ice fishing with the Moose Jaw Wildlife Federation’s, “Classrooms on Ice” program. Some of the students were successful at catching fish and all of the students were successful at learning about the characteristics and behaviours of fish and about how fish adapt to survive in their environment. The students enjoyed a hot dog lunch cooked over a campfire, a hike up into the hills and learned about the water quality of Buffalo Pound Lake and how minute changes in PH levels can effect fish and other species. Everyone had a fantastic time and they all asked if they could go again.
