Home-Based Education

Prairie South School Division recognizes the right of parents residing within the school division to choose home-based instruction for their children.
Students participating in home-based education are students of the school division, and are required to be registered as such.

The Ministry of Education recently renewed the Home-based Education Program policy effective for the 2012-2013 school year. The documents below contain highlights and important notes for parents. Quick Steps to Understanding Registration

1.  Read the Home-Based Education FAQ.

2.  Fill out "Notice of Intent and Registration of a Home-based Education Program".

3.  Develop a written education plan.

4.  Submit your registration and education plan to Prairie South Schools 210, 15 Thatcher Drive East, Moose Jaw, SK, S6J 1L8.

 

Grade 10, 11, 12 Credits

The Sask. Ministry of Education does not recognize credits for home-based courses in grades 10, 11 and 12.  To qualify for course recognized credits, students must attend a recognized instructional institution or receive the course credit via correspondence or on-line classes.  Please see Home-Based Education - How Can Students Earn Secondary Level Credits? and Credit Requirements for further information (provided by the Ministry of Education).
