Prairie South is proud to have Elyas Adam, a grade 12 student from Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw, as a student panel member at the Saskatchewan School Boards Association Fall General Assembly. The assembly will be held in Saskatoon at the end of November.
Originally from Ethiopia, Central Collegiate is the first and only school Elyas has attended in Canada. He has outstanding leadership skills and says his strength the contributions he makes to groups and discussions. "I consider things from other perspectives and will try to do things that make a difference," says Adam.
Elyas is involved in many extra-curricular activities, as well as playing and coaching soccer. He is president of the Multicultural Youth Group, a member of the Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee, and has just returned from in the 2011 Lieutenant Governor's Leadership Forum. The SLC would like to welcome you to a marvellous year at Central Collegiate. We have many goals to achieve this year, some which include: more school spirit, and more participation in school events. Our advice to you is to get involved in the SLC. There are many things for you to join and help out in. Just to name a few: - SADD committee - Poster-making committee - Dance decorating committee
The SLC organizes many of the school activities throughout the year: dress up days, dances, fundraisers, pep rallies, and so much more. The SLC is here to represent all of the students in our school and we are more than willing to hear from you, so please feel free to approach us anytime. We wish to make 2011-2012the most amazing year at Central you will ever have.
