Education Week is Oct. 20-26
Central Butte School has planned some additional activities to help celebrate how lucky we are to live in a country where public education is provided and valued.
Monday Oct. 21
The Staff and SCC will be preparing and serving a pancake breakfast with milk for the students. Monday is also Bus Driver Appreciation Day so the bus drivers have been invited to help show our appreciation for the work they do everyday to transport our students safely to and from school and to events.
Tuesday Oct. 22
The SCC has planned a community board game night. Everyone from seniors to students are encouraged to come enjoy an evening of fun. Bring your favorite board game and join us in the gym from 6:30 -8:30 pm on Tuesday evening.
Wednesday Oct. 23
The Entrepreneurship 30 class will be distributing pizza orders at lunch. Orders (accepted until Friday Oct. 18) were sold in advance as a business venture for their budding Junior Achievement Company. Look for more developments with this class and business throughout the year.
The School Community Council (SCC) and staff have initiated a positive behaviour program in our school called "Just Be Friends" which focuses students and staff on celebrating positive behaviours. The program works towards a million acts of friendship by teaching, encouraging and tracking acts of friendship. The program has been piloted in Kelowna and Regina and has received considerable press. Central Butte School is the first rural school to join the program and will be kicking off the program on Wed. Oct. 23 at 2:20pm. Parents and the community are invited to participate in the program and the kick off. More information will be shared at the assembly in the auditorium, come join us.
Thursday Oct. 24
The SCC will be providing a Soup hot lunch for $2. There is no need to preorder, just bring a toonie and enjoy hamburger, mushroom or chicken noodle soup.
K-12 Activities will be determined and scheduled by our staff at our weekly staff meeting.
K-12 Reading Buddies – students are partnered up and will be supporting our improved reading goal by sharing some time reading together.
